Section Chief, Student Services and School Counseling Specialist
Lynne Muller, Ph.D. NCC (Nationally Certified Professional Counselor), LCPC
(Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, Supervisor-state license), is the
Section Chief, for Student Services and School Counseling , at the Maryland
State Department of Education. Lynne served as the Coordinator of School
Counseling in the Baltimore County Public Schools and is a former associate
Instructor at Johns Hopkins and Loyola Universities and adjunct at instructor
at McDaniel College and Stevenson College, where she taught in the Masters
School Counseling program. Her areas of specialization include school
counseling and counselor education and supervision.

In her 38 years with the Baltimore County Public Schools, Dr. Muller served
an elementary school teacher, an elementary school counselor, a middle school
counselor, and a high school counselor and department chairman. Her
professional publications include five articles, covering such topics as
empowerment, children and trauma, sexual minority youth, and group
counseling. She has made presentations both locally and nationally on such
topics as creating non-discriminatory spaces for transgender and gender
non-conforming students, children from substance abusing families, peer
helper training, counseling children of divorce, group counseling with
African American students, counseling adolescent females, and counseling
sexual minority youth. Her latest award was for her work on LBGTQ issues from
Equality Maryland. Experiences as a trainer/teacher include elementary school
teaching, college teaching, supervision and in-service training of
professional school counselors, teaching and training for the United States
Postal Service and training child-care providers in the state of Maryland.
The youngest of five children, Dr. Muller grew up in a household full of
future teachers. Dr. Muller loves her work and enjoys reading, riding horses,
teaching, skiing, yoga, and being a grandmother.
