Finding qualified instructors can make or break a CTE program, and year after year, states report that recruiting qualified teachers is one of the leading challenges facing their schools and colleges. This session will examine innovative strategies for strengthening the CTE teacher pipeline, drawing on lessons learned from Advance CTE's CTE on the Frontier series and the 2016 report, The State of Career Technical Education: Increasing Access to Industry Experts in High Schools. Attendees will also hear how South Dakota is addressing the teacher shortage and working to recruit and certify CTE teachers.
